Campinas is a city of one million people in São Paulo state in Brazil. Shannan and I are here for the next few days participating in a church planting conference. There are more than 700 people present for the conference from over 40 denominations in Brazil.

Impressed? Probably not when you discover that it is just a black leather belt. My black belt is designed to hold up my britches not warn potential foes that I have “a special set of skills.” Blackie is one of seven belts I own, though currently its AWOL from my closet and that is a real shame, but totally beside the point.

I guess there are worse ways to die, but at the time the idea of being crushed and buried under a tomb of tomes was unsettling. I am a bibliophile, but this place made me claustrophobic!
