The Cutting Room Floor

When it comes to preaching, my weekly challenge is not having enough to share, it is having too much to share. It seems that most every week I am wading through a river of Greek and Hebrew exegetical helps, a number of biblical commentaries, historical sources, and then topping it off with healthy dialog with trusted friends on our staff. In the end, I can’t include everything I have studied in a sermon, only what I sense are the essential things that contribute to the message God has for that week. Of course that leaves me with pages of notes that at times end up “on the cutting room floor.”

Here you can reach down and retrieve some of those notes. We’ll take a behind-the-scenes look and see what God might be speaking to us as we do.
